A perfect plum and mauve wedding in downtown Raleigh
You know that feeling when summer is coming to an end and fall is drawing near? The nights start to cool, the colors begin to soften, and the air is full of new beginnings. That’s exactly how Erin and Jack's beautiful August wedding felt!
When I first met with Erin and Jack, they weren’t quite sure where or when their wedding would take place. I helped them choose a few venues to tour, a mix of different styles to help them narrow down what felt most like them. After touring the Melrose Knitting Mill, they were certain this was the perfect venue to host their reception and celebrate their marriage alongside family and friends! The Melrose Knitting Mill, located in the heart of downtown Raleigh, was easily accessible for their out-of-town guests. With its gorgeous exposed brick, chandeliers, and rich history, the space has so much heart and soul. It was the perfect fit for them!
Then the fun part began—planning time! I worked with the couple to find the right vendors, refine their design ideas, and narrow down the color palette. Drawing from Erin's purple-inspired mood boards, we created a vision that fit their late-August vibe. The plum, mauve, blush, and cream color palette beautifully transitioned between the two seasons, with soft summer tones blending seamlessly into the earthy hues of early fall.
On their wedding day, Anthony and I arrived at the Melrose bright and early (coffees in hand, obviously!). The Melrose venue team already had all the tables and chairs perfectly arranged—they were such a dream to work with! We began setting up the tables, decor, and all the little details that elevated the already beautiful room to the next level.
Erin and Jack’s ceremony was held at the Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral. Once the reception space was set up, Anthony and I headed over to the church with the altar meadows and personal flowers in tow. This cathedral is absolutely STUNNING! The high ceilings, stained glass windows, and marble altar made it feel like something straight out of the Vatican! The ceremony was beautiful, and it was such an honor to celebrate with Erin and Jack as they tied the knot.
After the ceremony, guests cheered on the newlyweds outside before heading to the Melrose Knitting Mill for cocktail hour on the patio. After that, we opened the doors to the main reception room and got the party started! The Melrose team served an absolutely delicious dinner, followed by the sweetest first dance and parent dances. I’m not sure what it is about these first dances, but I almost always shed a tear, and this time was no different :’)
Once the parent dances were over, the real dancing began. These guests came to party! DJ Daniel Jordan absolutely crushed it, mixing in everything from country songs honoring the couple’s Texas roots, to Nicki Minaj and other hits that kept people on the dance floor all night long. The only time guests stepped away from dancing was to grab a slice of their delicious late-night snack—an assortment of pizzas with dozens of different toppings! It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable day!!
Erin and Jack, thank you so much for trusting me to be your planner! It was such an honor to work with you and I truly enjoyed every step of the way. You both were so easygoing and fun to work with, making my job an absolute delight. I loved meeting your sweet families and celebrating with you. Throughout your wedding planning journey, we’ve become such great friends and I’m so thankful to have you in my life. Wishing you all the joy and happiness in the world as you begin your new chapter as husband and wife!
