A Timeless Celebration in the Savannah Lowcountry
In November, I had the honor of planning Morgan and Catherine Cooney’s wedding weekend in the heart of Savannah, GA (one of my absolute favorite places)! I have known Catherine and Morgan for years, so it was an honor to help them plan their wedding day and be there throughout their weekend to celebrate them! The wedding weekend began with a ceremony rehearsal at The Morris Center, which was beautifully captured by Tiffany North Photography. Afterward, family and friends gathered at The Pirate’s House for a welcome party, complete with drinks, delicious food, and the prettiest cakes from Wicked Cakes. Members of their families and wedding party shared the sweetest, heartfelt speeches and toasts, followed by more drinks and dancing at a few of their favorite Savannah pubs! It was the perfect way to kick off their wedding weekend!
On the wedding day, I started my morning at Mirabelle and enjoyed a delicious breakfast to fuel the busy day ahead. I arrived at The Morris Center to begin setting up the couple's personal décor, where Catherine’s thoughtful details truly shined. Not only did they incorporate so many custom touches, like napkins and koozies, but Catherine hand-crafted oyster shell place cards for each guest, perfectly capturing their Lowcountry theme! Carlson and Co. joined me during setup to make their beautiful baby’s breath table runners, adorned with pillar and floating candles to create an ethereal, vintage coastal atmosphere. Amazing Event Rentals completed the look with a classic black-and-white dance floor, tying everything together beautifully!
As the ceremony began, guests watched Catherine, escorted by her father, walk down the aisle while holding the couple's sweet daughter, Charlotte. This touching moment transitioned into a special generational tribute as Charlotte was passed to her grandmother, and Catherine took her bouquet. The ceremony, officiated by Morgan’s childhood pastor, was so heartfelt and sweet. The couple truly made the celebration their own, lighting a unity candle and also having Charlotte baptized, adding so much meaning and celebration to their special day!
Guests then enjoyed cocktail hour on the lawn behind The Morris Center, featuring downtown Savannah views, an oyster bar, and a fun Polaroid guestbook station. The reception was inside The Morris Center, which was kicked off by wedding party introductions, complete with massive cutouts of Catherine, Morgan, and Charlotte—setting the party tone for the rest of the night to come! Dinner by Thrive Catering was delicious, followed by heartfelt speeches, the sweetest first dances, and a packed dance floor that kept the party alive for the rest of the night!
The evening ended with a private last dance for the couple, and then a sparkler exit that was as picture-perfect as the day itself! Morgan and Catherine’s wedding was a true reflection of their love, family, and joy, and it was an honor to bring their vision to life in one of Savannah’s most beautiful venues!
